Amitabh Bachchan has told viewers that he slipped and injured his knee during a shoot of Kaun Banega Crorepati 18, appearing seated for his usual standing opening monologue — but the 83-year-old actor reassured fans that the injury is not serious and that filming of the show continues as scheduled.

The veteran actor, who traditionally delivers his opening monologue standing at the centre of the stage, chose to sit this time. Pointing toward his left knee, he told the studio audience that he had slipped and fallen during the previous day's shoot and was finding it a little difficult to stand up.

The announcement drew worried gasps from the audience. Bachchan was quick to calm them down, saying the injury was non-severe, and added that he would proceed to host and interact with contestants on his feet as usual — a gesture that drew applause and get-well wishes from the studio.

Sources close to the actor confirmed he is receiving proper medical attention and is expected to bounce back soon. Despite the accident, filming of the quiz show is proceeding as per schedule, and the actor also remained active on social media, sharing a 4 AM update as he often does.

The injury comes at a busy time for Bachchan. He will soon be seen in the courtroom drama Section 84, will reprise his role as Ashwatthama in the Kalki 2898 AD sequel alongside Prabhas and Kamal Haasan, and is set to lead the upcoming thriller Aankhen 2. He has also recently addressed online speculation about retirement, clarifying that a blog remark about it being "late, time to retire" was only a reference to going to bed.

Bachchan is no stranger to on-set injuries. In March 2023, he suffered a right rib-cage injury and muscle tear while shooting an action sequence for Kalki 2898 AD in Hyderabad, after which shooting was halted until he recovered.
