IDBI Bank reported double-digit growth across its total business, deposits and advances in the quarter ended September 30, 2026, taking its total business past the Rs 6 lakh crore mark for the first time, according to its latest business update.

The lender's total business rose 18 per cent year-on-year to Rs 6.27 lakh crore, powered by growth on both sides of the balance sheet.

Deposits and advances both expand

Total deposits grew 17 per cent from a year earlier to Rs 3.56 lakh crore, while net advances increased 18 per cent to Rs 2.72 lakh crore, indicating continued momentum in the bank's credit portfolio. CASA deposits — the low-cost current and savings account funds banks prize most — rose 12 per cent year-on-year to Rs 1.56 lakh crore, according to CNBC TV18.

Profitability context

The business update follows the bank's June-quarter results, in which IDBI Bank posted a 5.4 per cent year-on-year rise in net profit to Rs 2,115 crore. Net interest income — the difference between interest earned and interest paid — grew 10 per cent to Rs 3,486 crore, though margins remained under pressure, with the net interest margin declining to 3.61 per cent.

Asset quality remained largely stable. The gross non-performing asset ratio stood at 2.30 per cent, marginally improved from 2.32 per cent in the previous quarter, while the net NPA ratio was 0.16 per cent. The bank's provision coverage ratio stood at 99.31 per cent.

Disinvestment watch

Separately, IDBI Bank's strategic disinvestment is progressing at a "steady pace," with the government currently evaluating financial bids submitted by interested investors, government sources told NDTV Profit earlier. The stake sale remains one of the government's closely watched privatisation items this financial year.
