LG Electronics has secured one of its largest artificial-intelligence infrastructure deals yet, signing a long-term definitive agreement to supply cooling solutions totalling 5 gigawatts (GW) for AI data centers with US-based Air Control Concept, a major North American infrastructure platform company.
The agreement was announced by LG's US unit on Monday, and investors reacted strongly on Tuesday: LG Electronics shares climbed more than 6 percent in early trading, changing hands at 229,500 won as of 9:27 AM, up 6.25 percent or 13,500 won from the previous session.
Under the partnership, LG will gradually supply a full range of cooling equipment, including high-efficiency chillers for AI data-center thermal management, to support a 5GW pipeline of projects. Air Control Concept handles the entire process across North America — the United States and Canada — from data-center design and construction to public bidding and after-maintenance, and counts major global data-center operators among its clients.
Why it matters
Cooling has become one of the most critical — and competitive — segments of the AI infrastructure boom, as next-generation AI chips pack far more power into each rack and push heat loads well beyond what conventional cooling can handle. A long-term supply agreement of this scale gives LG a firm foothold in the North American market.
Securities analysts say the deal validates LG's bet on cooling as a growth engine. Meritz Securities raised its target price on the stock to 250,000 won from 220,000 won, citing the growth potential of the company's new businesses. Analyst Yang Seung-su said the AI data-center cooling business would show tangible results this year by building an order backlog of about 3 trillion won, adding that certifications for the liquid-cooling lineup alongside air-cooled chillers were expanding the scope for additional orders.
