Malaysia matched its best-ever gold medal haul at the Asian Games on Saturday, collecting three golds on Day 14 of the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Games to take its tally to nine — with two more chances today to set a new national record.
Three golds on Day 14
The haul was led by track cycling great Datuk Mohd Azizulhasni Awang, who won the men's keirin in what was his final Asian Games appearance. The gold capped an illustrious continental career with a tally of three gold, one silver and two bronze medals.
The other two golds came from the women's and men's squash teams in their respective team events, adding to individual titles already won by S. Sivasangari and Ng Eain Yow to take Malaysia's squash gold tally at these Games to four.
Record in sight
The nine golds match the national record set at the Guangzhou 2010 edition, and the contingent has two opportunities today to go one better. The Christian Didier Chin–Aidan Yunus partnership will contest the men's doubles padel final — the sport's debut at the Asian Games — while the Speedy Tigers face defending champions India for the men's hockey gold. A victory in either final would give Malaysia its highest-ever gold medal haul at the Games before the curtain comes down on Sunday.
