India's Abhishek Sharma and captain Shubman Gill headline the shortlist for the ICC Men's Player of the Month award for September, alongside Zimbabwe captain Sikandar Raza, the International Cricket Council announced.

The women's shortlist features Sri Lanka captain Chamari Athapaththu, India's Shafali Verma and left-arm spinner Sree Charani, recognised for standout performances at the Women's Asia Cup and the Asian Games.

Gill's record double century
Gill, in line for his fifth ICC Player of the Month award, amassed 333 runs in two ODIs against the West Indies. He struck 110 in the first ODI in Thiruvananthapuram before producing the fastest ODI double-century ever — a hurricane 223 off just 133 balls — helping India chase down a mammoth 406-run target with eight wickets in hand and 39 balls to spare.

Abhishek's 30-ball century
Abhishek smashed 229 runs in four T20Is, including a record 30-ball century against Afghanistan — the fastest T20I century by a batter from an ICC Full Member nation, breaking Rohit Sharma's 35-ball record. His 108 off 45 balls came at a strike rate of 317.64, the highest by an Indian in a men's T20I innings, and his opening stand with Sanju Samson produced India's highest-ever powerplay score of 100 for no loss.

Raza's all-round month
Raza was the leading run-scorer in Zimbabwe's home ODI series against Australia, scoring 183 runs in three matches at a strike rate of 92.89 while taking three wickets at an economy rate of 5.46. He added 90 runs and two wickets in three T20Is during the period.

The winners will be decided by a combination of votes from an ICC voting academy and fans around the world.
