Air India, IndiGo Suspend Saudi Arabia Flights Till October 17 Amid Houthi Missile Attacks

Air India and IndiGo have cancelled all flights to Saudi Arabia until October 17, 2026, as Houthi missile attacks on the kingdom intensify and Riyadh's King Khalid International Airport remains shut after a deadly strike on Saturday.

IndiGo said in a travel advisory on Tuesday that all flights to and from Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam and Madinah stand cancelled until October 17, urging passengers to check flight status on its website before leaving for the airport. The airline said safety remained its top priority and that it was in constant coordination with the relevant authorities.

Air India separately announced that all flights to and from Riyadh, Dammam and Jeddah would remain suspended through October 17, offering affected passengers a full refund. The airline said it was closely monitoring developments to assess when safe operations could resume.

The suspensions follow a Houthi attack on Saturday that killed at least 13 people and injured more than 300 at King Khalid International Airport, and a separate strike on Sunday that killed one person and wounded 11. The Saudi-led coalition said it intercepted three ballistic missiles — one aimed at Riyadh and two at Khamis Mushait — with spokesperson Turki Al-Maliki saying all three were "intercepted and destroyed". The Houthis said their target in Riyadh was the airport.

Region on edge

Saudi Energy Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman Al Saud, speaking at an energy conference in Riyadh, said the airport attacks over the past week had tested the kingdom's resilience. Saudi authorities have said the airport will remain closed until Saturday, disrupting travel for thousands of passengers, including the large Indian workforce in the Gulf.
