Amazon India's Great Indian Festival 2026 has opened to record numbers, with products ordered more than doubling from a year earlier and platform visits crossing 440 million in the early phase of the sale, the company said.
Record early numbers across the board
According to a PTI report published on October 10, first-time shoppers rose nearly 100% year-on-year, and over 72% of visits came from outside India's top nine metropolitan areas — a sign that festive e-commerce demand is spreading well beyond the big cities. App downloads hit a single-day record at five times a regular business day, and one in three customers chose EMIs while one in four paid with UPI.
Premium shopping picks up pace
Shoppers traded up sharply. Premium Android smartphone sales grew 70% year-on-year; MacBook Neo sales ran 65 times a regular day; premium wearables sold at 80 times the normal daily pace. TVs of 55 inches and above accounted for 65% of all TVs sold, while home entertainment sales ran 77 times a regular day and large appliances 50 times. Fashion sales were seven times a regular day, with footwear selling at seven pairs a second; beauty products made up one in four purchases in the first 12 hours.
Sellers also cashed in: units ordered in the first 24 hours were over twice last year's level, and the number of sellers crossing Rs 1 crore in first-24-hour sales rose more than 80% year-on-year. Orders came from every Indian pin code, and in more than 120 cities served by Amazon Now, one in two products was delivered within minutes.
Saurabh Srivastava, Vice President at Amazon India, said early trends had beaten the company's most optimistic expectations, while Versuni India's MD and CEO Gulbahar Taurani said demand for Philips-branded appliances was ten times a regular day.
