Filmmaker-actor Anurag Kashyap has joined the cast of 'Kaaka', the upcoming action-drama headlined by Telugu superstar Chiranjeevi, director Bobby Kolli announced on Monday through a post on X.
The announcement
Kolli welcomed Kashyap to the project in what he described as a pivotal role, saying the actor-director's presence would add another intense layer to the high-voltage entertainer. The announcement also confirmed a worldwide grand release for the film on January 13, 2027, timed for the Sankranti 2027 window.
What the film is about
A glimpse of 'Kaaka' released in August showed Chiranjeevi playing K Satyam, the supervisor of an aquaculture factory primarily engaged in shrimp farming. The video also revealed his vast set of guns, an armed Satyam, and the silhouette of a shooting — suggesting he is hiding behind a facade.
Alongside Chiranjeevi and Kashyap, the film features actors Anaswara Rajan, Nivetha Pethuraj, Sunil and Getup Srinu. No further details about Kashyap's character have been revealed by the makers yet.
A busy year for Kashyap
The casting follows a busy year for the actor-director, who directed Bobby Deol in 'Bandar' and made his Telugu cinema acting debut in 'Dacoit – A Love Story'. 'Kaaka' marks another front-of-camera turn as his crossover into South Indian cinema continues.
The team behind it
The film is produced by Venkat K. Narayana under the banner of KVN Productions, with music by Thaman S, cinematography by Vijay Kartik Kannan and editing by Antony Ruben. The screenplay is written by Kona Venkat, K. Chakravarthy Reddy, Hari Mohana Krishna and Vineeth Potluri, with dialogue by Bhanu-Nandu.
