Mumbai is set for a star-studded global night as The Earthshot Prize 2026 Awards heads to India, with Alia Bhatt, Rami Malek, Sachin Tendulkar and Simone Ashley joining the Prince of Wales for the ceremony on November 27.
Alia Bhatt, the actor, producer and entrepreneur, will be among the leading names from film, music, sport and entertainment at the awards night, where she will present one of the five Earthshot Prize awards.
The global guest list
Around 5,000 guests are expected at the event, which celebrates people and organisations working on solutions to some of the world's most pressing environmental challenges. Alia will share the stage with Oscar-winning actor Rami Malek, cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar and British actress and musician Simone Ashley, among other presenters and special guests. People magazine reported that the lineup also includes Shreya Ghoshal and Sonam Kapoor, alongside Earthshot Ambassadors Robert Irwin and Nomzamo Mbatha. The evening will be hosted by Karan Johar.
The 2026 Awards Night will also mark the first time the event is streamed globally on Prime Video, with audiences in more than 240 countries and territories able to watch the celebration in more than 40 languages.
A royal climate mission
The Earthshot Prize was founded by Prince William in 2020, inspired by President John F. Kennedy's Moonshot programme of the 1960s. The initiative is built around five environmental challenges and aims to discover 50 winners over a decade with the power to repair the planet. Since its inception, Earthshot has identified more than 5,600 emerging environmental innovations from 156 countries.
People reported that the 2026 event is sponsored by the Serum Institute of India, and that rumours suggest Kate Middleton may join her husband for the Mumbai trip.
Speaking about the occasion, Bhatt said the prize was about hope backed by ideas and action, and that she was proud India would be part of the moment.
