The International Cricket Council on Thursday announced the schedule for the 2027 men's ODI World Cup, setting up a blockbuster India–Pakistan clash in Johannesburg and an opening-day heavyweight contest between India and Australia.
The fixtures were announced at an event in Cape Town on October 1. The 14-team tournament will be jointly hosted by South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia, with the final scheduled for November 21 at the Wanderers in Johannesburg.
India's group-stage fixtures
India, led by Shubman Gill, have been placed in Group A alongside Australia, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Zimbabwe and a qualifier. Their campaign begins with a mouthwatering opener against Australia on October 7 in Cape Town, followed by the marquee India–Pakistan encounter on October 10 at the Wanderers in Johannesburg.
The remaining group fixtures take India to Tshwane for the October 14 meeting with Afghanistan, to Bloemfontein for the October 17 game against Qualifier A, and across the border to Victoria Falls for the day-night fixture against Zimbabwe on October 24.
Road to the final
The top three teams from each group, along with the best fourth-placed side, will advance to the Super 7 phase. The semifinals are scheduled for November 17 in Cape Town and November 18 in Centurion, before the tournament concludes with the final at the Wanderers on November 21.
The schedule also includes a Super Series window from October 2 to October 6 in Windhoek, Namibia, one of the venues confirmed for the expanded tournament.
With 14 teams and matches spread across three countries, the 2027 edition is the largest ODI World Cup to be staged in southern Africa — and India's road through Australia and Pakistan in the opening week sets up a defining fortnight for the campaign.
