India will look to complete a clean sweep of the three-match ODI series when they take on the West Indies in the third and final one-dayer at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in New Chandigarh on Saturday. The match begins at 2:00 PM IST.

The hosts hold an unassailable 2-0 lead after two dominant performances, the second of them historic. In Guwahati on Wednesday, India pulled off their highest-ever run chase in ODI cricket, overhauling West Indies' 405 for 7 with eight wickets in hand and 39 balls to spare. Captain Shubman Gill was the architect, smashing an unbeaten 223 — his second ODI double hundred — as India completed the 406-run target with ease. The visitors, led by Shai Hope, had posted their first-ever 400-plus total in ODI cricket thanks to centuries from John Campbell, Hope and Amir Jangoo, only to watch it defended unsuccessfully.

For Saturday's decider, India will have to cope with a setback in their pace attack. Prasidh Krishna has been ruled out of the match with a hamstring injury sustained during the second ODI, in which he bowled just five overs for 45 runs and a wicket before leaving the field. The Gujarat Titans quick will report to the BCCI's Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru for rehabilitation. His absence is expected to open the door for Mohammed Siraj, who has been on the bench while India's young attack has been put to the test through the series. Jasprit Bumrah is unavailable for the ODI leg, being part of India's T20I squad at the Asian Games in Japan.

The West Indies, for their part, have plenty to play for beyond avoiding the whitewash. Their batting has shown old Caribbean flair in the subcontinent, but their bowling plans will need serious reworking after failing to defend a formidable 405. They will want a consolation win to carry momentum into the five-match T20I series that begins in Lucknow on October 6.
