Bhopal, Oct 7: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Tuesday announced a sweeping set of measures for young people in the state, declaring 2027 the "Year of Youth" and promising that the Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission (MPPSC) examinations will be held twice a year from next year.
Addressing the CM Youth Conclave-2026 at Bhopal's Lal Parade Ground, Yadav said the state would organise education, skill development, research, innovation and employment programmes around the youth-year theme. He described the twice-yearly PSC exam — alongside separate job-oriented examinations beyond the regular MPPSC cycle — as a first-of-its-kind step anywhere in the country.
The announcements went well beyond recruitment calendars. The Chief Minister said the state would set up 12 new medical colleges and 12 skill-oriented universities, with the government aiming to open roughly one medical college every month. Free coaching for competitive examinations will be offered in government colleges in every district, and laboratories for artificial intelligence and advanced computing will be established.
For researchers, the government plans to raise the monthly stipend from Rs 16,000 to Rs 25,000, give each university a dedicated Rs 1 crore research fund, and create a Rs 5 crore "Idea Fund" at the state level to back innovation and startup ideas. One lakh young people will be enrolled in skill-enhancement programmes with placement support through agencies, and an investor meet next year will aim to create more jobs, Yadav said.
Addressing the gathering, Yadav also referred to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's public life and asked the audience to greet the Prime Minister, who he said was completing 25 years in public life on Wednesday. Government data cited at the event said India has about 36.74 crore people aged 15-29, roughly 26 per cent of the country's population.
