Modi Unveils "We Will Do It" Slogan for Viksit Bharat 2047, Marking 25 Years in Government

Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled a new slogan, "We Will Do It," on October 7, setting out an ambitious roadmap for a developed India by 2047 at the 'Viksit Bharat Sankalp Sabha' in New Delhi.

The event marked 25 years since Modi took oath as Gujarat's chief minister on October 7, 2001 — a milestone he described as 12 and a half years in Gujarat followed by 12 and a half years as Prime Minister across three consecutive terms.

What the slogan promises

Modi tied the slogan to a set of goals for 2047, the centenary of India's independence: making India a top-three economy, achieving self-reliance, becoming a global manufacturing hub, hosting the Olympics, and stepping into space. He said India's 140 crore citizens would together build the developed nation, framing the country's challenges as "140 crore solutions."

In a notable admission, the Prime Minister acknowledged that societal division along voting lines remains one of the biggest challenges facing the country.

A nod to the flydubai pilot

Modi drew inspiration from Captain Smit Machchhar, the Indian pilot attacked aboard a flydubai flight to Tel Aviv last week, saying a day would come when the world talks about aircraft made in India. The pilot's fight to keep his injured aircraft safe has been widely reported over the past week.

The speech sets the tone for the government's long-term narrative as the Viksit Bharat mission moves from planning documents to public campaigning, with the 2047 deadline now the anchor for a series of policy announcements expected in the coming months.
