MUMBAI: Netflix is rolling out a new Tamil romantic-comedy series, '#Love', globally on Friday, October 2, headlined by Aishwarya Lekshmi and Arjun Das as two rival dating-app founders whose own love lives are anything but solved.
The series marks a notable homecoming for producer-showrunner Soundarya Rajinikanth, who presents the show under her May6 Entertainment Factory banner, with director Balaji Mohan — best known for 'Maari' — at the helm.
Compatibility vs chemistry
The story follows Tara (Lekshmi) and Matthew (Das), two single entrepreneurs running competing dating platforms built on opposite philosophies of love. Tara's app, FOUND, is engineered around deep personality compatibility, while Matthew's rival platform, Find My Bae, bets everything on instant attraction and raw chemistry.
Though both are successful at helping others find partners, their own romantic lives remain unsettled. Their professional rivalry takes a personal turn when Tara challenges Matthew to a 60-day dating wager — a bet that forces them to test their own theories of love and ends up developing into something neither of their algorithms predicted.
The series is written by Nirmal Williams, with Sharada Subramanian and Shweta Chakravarty as co-writers, and features music by Sean Roldan. For Lekshmi, the show is an important milestone as her first lead role in an OTT web series, while Das continues his push into the digital space after the well-received 'Andhaghaaram'.
Starting today, '#Love' will stream on Netflix India in Tamil, with dubbed versions available in Hindi, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam. It joins a crowded Friday line-up that includes ZEE5's 'Pooja Meri Jaan', JioHotstar's 'Bethlehem Kudumba Unit' and Apple TV's 'The Last First: Winter K2'.
