The NFL's international series takes centre stage on Sunday as the Indianapolis Colts and the Washington Commanders meet at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, with both teams looking to build on their first wins of the season.

Both sides enter the Week 4 clash at 1-2, each coming off a first victory in Week 3. Indianapolis edged the Houston Texans 19-17, while Washington shocked the previously unbeaten Seattle Seahawks 33-31 behind backup quarterback Marcus Mariota, who started in place of the injured Jayden Daniels.

Mariota starts again, Allen ruled out

Daniels remains sidelined with an elbow injury, so Mariota will again lead the Commanders' offence. In his relief appearance last week, Mariota threw for 183 yards and three touchdowns. He will be without wide receiver Terry McLaurin, listed among the Commanders' inactives.

The Colts, meanwhile, downgraded veteran wide receiver Keenan Allen from questionable to out on Saturday with a groin injury. Allen had been limited in practice on Thursday and did not practise on Friday. Daniel Jones, who has completed 66.3 per cent of his passes for 611 yards with three touchdowns and three interceptions, will lead the Colts' offence, with Jonathan Taylor (258 rushing yards, four touchdowns) anchoring the run game.

What to watch

ESPN's FPI prediction model gives the Colts a 55 per cent chance of victory, and all three of the network's staff pickers backed Indianapolis. The Colts' defence has struggled overall, allowing a league-worst 417.3 yards per game, while Washington's defence has been especially vulnerable against the pass.

Kickoff is at 9:30 AM ET on the NFL Network. The game is the first of the NFL's international slate this season, and the London crowd at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium has a history of producing electric atmospheres for the early-morning US slot.
