Ravindra Jadeja struck his 16th first-class century as Saurashtra posted 392 in their first innings against Chhattisgarh on the second day of their Ranji Trophy 2026-27 opener at the Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot.

Century after a long wait

The all-rounder scored 102 off 209 balls, hitting seven fours. Resuming the second day unbeaten on 72, he needed just 51 balls to reach the milestone. His innings ended in the following over when Dharmendrasinh Jadeja — a former Saurashtra teammate — held on to a caught-and-bowled chance.

Jadeja walked in with Saurashtra in trouble at 151 for four and stitched together a 205-run fifth-wicket stand with Prerak Mankad, who made 129 off 150 balls. Mankad's century was the highest individual score of the innings, while Chirag Jani contributed a valuable 83.

Bowling honours

Chhattisgarh's Dev Aditya Singh was the pick of the bowlers, finishing with five wickets for 67 runs. Dharmendrasinh Jadeja claimed two wickets, including the prized scalp of his former teammate.

The century is timely match practice for the India all-rounder ahead of the national team's upcoming Test assignments, and a reminder of his enduring value in red-ball cricket at 37.
