RBL Bank on Monday reported a sharp jump in its July-September quarter earnings, with standalone net profit rising 170 percent to Rs 482 crore from Rs 179 crore in the corresponding period last year — a 2.7-fold increase.
The private lender attributed the surge to improving asset quality and a rise in operating profit for the quarter ended September 30, 2026.
Key numbers
Net interest income grew 37.5 percent year-on-year to Rs 2,131 crore, compared with Rs 1,550 crore a year ago. Asset quality showed steady improvement: gross non-performing assets stood at 1.02 percent versus 1.30 percent in the June quarter, while net NPAs came in at 0.29 percent against 0.37 percent quarter-on-quarter.
Provisions were higher at Rs 767 crore, compared with Rs 599 crore in the preceding quarter and Rs 500 crore in the same quarter last year.
Earnings season in full swing
RBL Bank was among 18 companies announcing quarterly results on Monday as the Q2 earnings calendar gathered pace. The lender's results came on a day when IT major HCLTech also reported its September-quarter numbers, posting an 11 percent sequential rise in profit to Rs 5,132 crore and declaring a second interim dividend of Rs 12 per share.
The private bank's performance adds to the string of strong results from lenders this earnings season, with improving asset quality across the sector supporting bottom-line growth even as credit costs remain a watch item.
