Filmmaker S S Rajamouli arrived in Kochi on Monday morning to promote the Fahadh Faasil-starrer 'Don't Trouble the Trouble', the fantasy family entertainer he is presenting ahead of its October 2 release.
Rajamouli is backing the film as presenter, while his son Karthikeya is producing it alongside Shobu Yarlagadda and Prasad Devineni under the banners of Arka Media Works and Showing Business. The film marks the directorial debut of Sashank Yelati and stars Fahadh Faasil in the lead alongside child actor Sara. It will release in Telugu, with dubbed versions in Malayalam and Tamil.
A magician, a girl and a genie
Fahadh plays Suri, a magician who befriends a young girl, played by Sara. The story takes a fantastical turn when the girl develops supernatural abilities and is revealed to be a genie capable of granting wishes. Saurabh Sachdeva also plays a key role in the film.
Kaala Bhairava has composed the music and background score, while Brad Francis ACS is the cinematographer and Praveen Antony is the editor. The film was earlier scheduled to release on September 11 before being postponed to October 2. It marks Fahadh's first outing as a lead actor in Telugu.
Rajamouli attended the film's pre-release event at Lulu Mall in Kochi on Monday evening as the chief guest. The teaser has already generated attention on social media, while the song has also gained traction. In Kerala, the film will be distributed by Bhavana Release, the distribution network of Bhavana Studios, which is backed by Fahadh, Dileesh Pothan and Syam Pushkaran.
Suriya question sidestepped
At the event, where actor Suriya was also present, Rajamouli was asked about their reported collaboration. He declined to share details, saying he did not want it to take attention away from 'Don't Trouble the Trouble'. "Whenever we do a film, it is going to be really special," he said.
The timing is notable for another reason: 2026 marks Rajamouli's 25th year in cinema. He emerged as one of Indian cinema's biggest names with the Baahubali franchise, particularly Baahubali: The Beginning (2015), which became a major box-office success and significantly expanded Telugu cinema's reach.
Rajamouli is currently busy with his upcoming film 'Varanasi', starring Mahesh Babu, Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Prithviraj Sukumaran, which is expected to hit theatres next year.
