Bengaluru: Speciality chemical manufacturing startup Scimplify has raised $25 million (around Rs 238 crore) in a funding round led by Hitachi Ventures, the venture capital arm of Japan's Hitachi Group, as the company expands its research, processing and manufacturing capabilities across rare earth and critical metals purification.
Strategic investors, semiconductor and battery focus
The round saw participation from existing backers Accel, Bertelsmann India Investments, 3one4 Capital and Omnivore, alongside new investors Teknor Apex, Henkel and an undisclosed Japanese chemical company. The funds will also go towards scaling Scimplify's semiconductor chemicals and battery chemicals businesses, and towards strengthening SciNode, the company's agentic AI platform that connects research, process development, control and physical manufacturing.
Scimplify co-founder Sachin Santhosh told Mint that the investors are strategic ones who are also customers, and that another Japanese company would be announced as an investor soon. The company expects overseas markets, which now contribute about half its revenue, to grow further over the coming year.
A deeptech bet on supply chains
Founded in 2023 by Sachin Santhosh, Salil Srivastava, Dheeraj Dhingra and Hersh Manek, Scimplify is a B2B platform for end-to-end sourcing and manufacturing of speciality chemicals, operating R&D facilities in Bengaluru and Hyderabad with a network of more than 500 manufacturing partners. Its customers include Henkel, Coromandel, Dr Reddy's, BASF and Marubeni, and it serves more than 1,000 customers across over 40 countries.
Prior to this round, the company had raised $40 million in a Series B co-led by Accel and Bertelsmann Investments in March last year, taking its disclosed funding to about $80 million. The fundraise comes as Indian deeptech startups raised $290 million across 28 deals in Q3 2026, a 176 per cent jump from the year-ago period, according to Inc42.
