Shubhankar Sharma held on to a two-shot lead at the Kapil Dev Invitational Tour Championship after an eventful even-par 72 in the third round at Jaypee Greens Golf & Spa Resort in Greater Noida.
Lead cut from four to two
The 30-year-old from Chandigarh is at 11-under 205 (68-65-72) after three rounds of the Rs 2 crore event. He began the day with a four-stroke cushion, but a scrappy closing stretch trimmed the margin.
Sharma mixed five birdies with three bogeys and a double bogey on the day, dropping three bogeys and the double on the closing stretch to finish with a 72.
The chasing pack
Tied second at nine-under 207 are Manoj S and Italy's Michele Ortolani. Manoj carded a bogey-free 66 with six birdies to climb from sixth, while Ortolani shot a blemish-free seven-under 65 — the joint-lowest round of the day — to rise from seventh.
Yuvraj Sandhu, last year's DP World PGTI Order of Merit champion, sits fourth at seven-under 209 after a 69.
Final-round outlook
Sharma described it as an 'up-and-down day,' noting he started strongly with four front-nine birdies but was disappointed with the back nine. He added that he is 'still playing good golf' and hopes to carry the momentum into the final round.
