Bengaluru: SolarWinds has unveiled Avior, a standalone agentic AI platform designed to bring controlled, goal-driven artificial intelligence into enterprise IT operations, as companies grow wary of autonomous systems that act without guardrails.

The company announced Avior at SolarWinds Day 2026, its virtual customer event held on October 14 for the EMEA and Americas regions and October 15 for Asia-Pacific and Japan. The platform is available from October 14 through a guided onboarding programme, the company said.

From managing alerts to orchestrating outcomes

Avior is pitched as a deliberate alternative to the current wave of reactive AI tooling. Rather than simply surfacing alerts for human teams to triage, the platform coordinates AI agents across hybrid IT environments around defined business goals, combining automation with human oversight, risk controls and auditability.

The system covers observability, database management, incident response and IT service management, and is designed to help teams manage capacity and cost, retire obsolete infrastructure that clutters dashboards, and track inventory, firmware versions and end-of-life exposure.

Trust over raw automation

"Organisations need to move proactively, reduce operational risk, and build resilience into the way IT work gets done," Cullen Childress, the company's interim CEO and chief product officer, said in the announcement, adding that Avior was built to help teams shift from managing alerts to orchestrating outcomes with clear goals, guardrails and control.

For the Indian market, SolarWinds positioned the launch around accountability. "For Indian enterprises, the real test of agentic AI isn't whether it can act, but whether it can be trusted to act in line with business outcomes," Rohit Shukla, the company's APJC leader, said. He argued that Avior moves the operating model itself into something auditable and aligned to the profit and loss statement, so teams spend less time on manual triage and more on designing policies and goal hierarchies.

The launch comes as enterprise IT leaders increasingly demand deterministic behaviour from AI systems deployed in mission-critical environments, where an unchecked autonomous action can mean an outage rather than just a bad answer.
