Tamannaah Bhatia has opened up about one of the toughest shoots of her career, revealing she was terrified while filming an underwater sequence for The Vvaan because she cannot swim.
"I was terrified when I had to do the underwater scene," the actor said during her chat with mid-day. "I had to take swimming and deep-sea diving classes before I began shooting."
A near-drowning scene
The sequence appears in the song "Chhathi Maiya", in which her character has a near-drowning experience. Bhatia recalled her initial apprehension: "I cannot swim. I was required to almost drown, and I know how to do that very well," she laughed.
She credited co-star Sidharth Malhotra, himself a deep-sea diver, for supporting her through the demanding shoot. "I have to give credit to Sidharth; he is a deep-sea diver and supported me a lot," she said.
Box office surprise
The effort appears to have paid off on screen. The Sidharth Malhotra and Tamannaah Bhatia-starrer has reportedly raked in over Rs 65 crore in its run so far — a box-office surprise that has made the film's success taste sweeter for its leading lady after the difficult shoot.
