Mumbai: Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) on Thursday launched the TCS Industrial Intelligence Foundry, an artificial intelligence offering designed to help industrial companies move from AI experimentation to scaled deployment across engineering and manufacturing. The platform combines a repository of configurable AI agents, workflows and governance capabilities aimed at accelerating enterprise AI adoption.

Built for industry, not generic chat

Unlike general-purpose AI platforms that require companies to build agents from scratch, the Foundry offers domain-engineered vertical AI applications designed to integrate directly with existing workflows. It targets sectors including aerospace, mobility, semiconductors, medical devices, industrial electronics, utilities and energy.

The platform supports use cases across the product development and manufacturing lifecycle: engineering intelligence and faster product development, AI-driven manufacturing operations, asset performance and reliability, quality and compliance management, and workforce enablement.

The productivity pitch

TCS said the offering can help enterprises reduce new product introduction timelines by 25 per cent and improve manufacturing productivity by 20-25 per cent — with gains potentially exceeding 40 per cent as data foundations and operating ecosystems mature, while maintaining quality, governance and operational performance. Its Human+AI Service Autonomy Model is meant to augment decision-making across engineering, manufacturing and field operations.

"The next wave of industrial AI will be shaped by how effectively AI agents are orchestrated to transform engineering, plant systems, and asset-centric operations," said Sreenivasa Chakravarti, global head and vice-president of Industrial Autonomy and Engineering at TCS. He added that the AI era would be won by context-aware agentic deployment across enterprises rather than generic copilots.

TCS shares closed at Rs 2,354.45 on Thursday, up 2.28 per cent, as investors weighed the new bet on physical and industrial AI — an area analysts say offers adoption opportunities well beyond conventional office-based enterprise software.
