President Donald Trump will host leading tech and AI figures — including Nvidia's Jensen Huang, Tesla's Elon Musk and Anthropic co-founder Tom Brown — at an event on Tuesday to launch America.gov, a new government website, according to a Bloomberg report carried by CNBC TV18.
The site is designed to help Americans access federal information and resources currently spread across numerous agencies, a White House official said on condition of anonymity. The all-day event will also feature panel discussions on AI, energy dominance, health, space and agriculture. Vice President JD Vance is expected to attend, alongside Airbnb co-founder Joe Gebbia, who heads the National Design Studio and has a leading role in redesigning government processes. Gebbia told Fox News Digital, which first reported the event, that a new AI tool would help Americans more easily access government help.
AI scrutiny and the China race
The administration's embrace of AI comes even as it faces pressure to adopt new guardrails, with prominent industry figures warning of a credible threat to humanity if models develop without more safeguards. Trump has dismissed those calls, insisting he will not slow AI development amid a race with China to dominate the fast-developing field.
AI has become a focal point of the US-China economic rivalry and was a major question hanging over Trump's summit with Chinese leader Xi Jinping this week. Beijing has signalled it does not intend to slow its own AI development, though Xi indicated some openness to boundaries, saying both countries had to "ensure the development of AI is always under human control."
AI has also become a flashpoint in November's midterm elections, as voters express concern about its impact on jobs and on the construction of massive data centres that are driving up household energy bills. Trump has dismissed talk of a voter backlash over data centres as a "SICK conspiracy."
