The trailer of Kartik Aaryan and Ananya Panday's romantic drama Tu Hai Meri Kiran will get a theatrical-first release, arriving in cinemas on October 2 before it drops online, Bollywood Hungama reported on October 1.
According to the report, the trailer will be attached to several big-ticket releases playing in theatres this week, including Ajay Devgn's Drishyam The Conclusion, Tom Cruise's Digger and the upcoming Verity, giving the film's first footage maximum big-screen exposure.
The film
Tu Hai Meri Kiran is a love story set in a post-pandemic world, produced by Dharma Productions and directed by Kayoze Irani. The film pairs Kartik Aaryan with Ananya Panday and is expected to hit theatres later this year.
A growing trend
The theatrical-first trailer strategy has become an increasingly common move for big Bollywood releases, using the opening-weekend footfall of major films to amplify the reach of a trailer before it goes digital. With the trailer of Tu Hai Meri Kiran set to play alongside some of the biggest releases of the season, the makers are betting on cinema audiences to drive the first wave of buzz.
The trailer is expected to arrive online shortly after its theatrical debut.
