UCF Forces Four Turnovers to Beat TCU 21-13, Stay Unbeaten at Home
The UCF Knights leaned on a ferocious defensive performance to beat TCU 21-13 in Orlando on Saturday, forcing four turnovers to stay unbeaten at home and improve to 3-1 on the season.
Missing both of their captains and viewed as underdogs at the Acrisure Bounce House, UCF outlasted the Horned Frogs with what the Daytona Beach News-Journal described as a toughness rarely seen since the program joined the Big 12 three years ago.
Defense sets the tone
The Knights generated four sacks and eight tackles for loss while limiting TCU (2-2, 0-1 Big 12) to just 33 rushing yards on 27 attempts. Cornerback Jayden Bellamy punched out a fumble on TCU's opening drive and added an interception before halftime, while Antione Jackson sealed the 21-13 win with the defense's third takeaway of the afternoon.
Jeffson Lafontant recorded 2.5 tackles for loss and a sack, and 17 different Knights recorded at least two tackles in the absence of starting linebacker Lewis Carter. The lone blemish for TCU's offense was a 1-yard touchdown by Jeremy Payne that extended the Horned Frogs' scoring streak to 424 consecutive games, second only to Florida in college football history.
A record day for Keyone Jenkins
Filling in for the injured Alonza Barnett III, quarterback Keyone Jenkins completed 19 of 20 passes for 160 yards and a touchdown, setting a new UCF single-game completion percentage record and breaking the 92 percent mark set in 2017 by his position coach, McKenzie Milton. He also tied Milton's mark of 14 straight completions.
The decisive score came on a 1-yard touchdown run by Landen Chambers, a Fort Worth native, capping a clock-draining drive that answered TCU's third-quarter field goal. Harvard transfer Jaden Craig threw for 310 yards for TCU but was intercepted twice, and the Horned Frogs committed 11 penalties in a self-inflicted defeat.
UCF now travels to No. 25 Houston next weekend, leaving home for the next month.
