The first trailer for the live-action 'Street Fighter' film has arrived, and it brings a major Bollywood name into the global fighting arena. Vidyut Jammwal was unveiled on October 5 as Dhalsim, the iconic yoga master from Capcom's legendary video game franchise.
A Bollywood-Hollywood crossover cast
The film pairs Jammwal with an ensemble of Hollywood names: Noah Centineo plays Ken Masters, Andrew Koji plays Ryu, Jason Momoa takes on Blanka and Callina Liang steps in as Chun-Li. The cast also includes Joe Anoai, David Dastmalchian, Cody Rhodes, Andrew Schulz, Eric Andre, Orville Peck, Olivier Richters, Hirooki Goto, Rayna Vallandingham, Alexander Volkanovski and Curtis '50 Cent' Jackson.
The project comes from Paramount Pictures in collaboration with Legendary Entertainment and Capcom, and is directed by Kitao Sakurai.
Set in 1993, hitting Indian screens October 16
According to the official synopsis, the film is set in 1993: estranged street fighters Ryu and Ken are thrown back into combat when the mysterious Chun-Li recruits them for the next World Warrior Tournament — a brutal clash of fists, fate and fury hiding a deadly conspiracy that forces the pair to confront each other and the demons of their past.
Paramount Studios India will release 'Street Fighter' in Indian cinemas on October 16, 2026, bringing the battle from the arcade to the big screen complete with the franchise's signature moves.
Why it matters
For Jammwal, known for his action-heavy roles and genuine martial-arts credentials, playing Dhalsim — one of gaming's most recognisable characters — puts an Indian actor at the centre of a major global video-game adaptation. With video-game films becoming one of Hollywood's most reliable genres, the film's performance will be closely watched on both sides of the Pacific.
