Vivo has revealed its India rollout schedule for OriginOS 7, its new Android 17-based software, announcing the timeline at its Next 2026 launch event in India on October 6 where it also introduced the X Fold 6, V80 and S2 FE smartphones. The three new phones ship with OriginOS 7 pre-installed, while existing devices will receive it in phases.
The rollout begins at the end of October 2026 with the company's flagship X series, and will continue in waves until February 2027, covering X, V, S, T and Y series handsets across price bands.
The rollout timeline
The first wave, at the end of October, covers the Vivo X Fold 5 and the X300 lineup — X300 Ultra, X300 Pro, X300 and X300 FE. The X200 series (X200 Pro, X200, X200 FE and X200T) follows in mid-November, and mid-December brings the update to older flagships including the X Fold 3 Pro, X100 Pro and X100, alongside the V70 and V60 series.
The V50 and V50e are slated for the end of December, with V, S, T and Y series phones — including the V40 and S2 lines — completing the rollout by the end of February 2027. Vivo has not yet announced a separate schedule for its iQOO sub-brand, which is expected to follow.
What the update brings
OriginOS 7 is positioned as more than a visual refresh. It introduces Fluid Motion animations and transitions, a refreshed Origin Design language, Dynamic Translucent Material effects across the interface, and the Jovi AI assistant. Lock-screen customisation arrives through new Wiggle and Glint themes, including an AI Pet Pals feature that places a virtual pet on the lock screen reacting to moments like waking up, charging and music playback.
For productivity, Origin Workbench allows up to five applications to run simultaneously, while AI Cross-App Drag lets users move text and images between apps quickly. As with any phased rollout, actual availability will vary by model, region and deployment stage.
