Cricket West Indies on Tuesday named a 15-member squad for the two-Test series in Bangladesh, leaving out fast bowler Alzarri Joseph and white-ball captain Shai Hope while handing uncapped Barbados batter Kevin Wickham his maiden Test call-up.

Workload calls on Joseph and Hope

Joseph was withdrawn following a routine medical assessment and specialist consultation, with Cricket West Indies saying the decision — taken with the fast bowler's agreement — was about managing his workload and averting the risk of injury from the increased physical demands of red-ball cricket. He is not ruled out of shorter formats. Hope, meanwhile, has been rested after an extended run across all three formats, with the board prioritising his workload and wellness ahead of the ODI World Cup qualifiers in February 2027.

Wickham's reward for a golden domestic run

The headline selection is 23-year-old Kevin Wickham, who forced his way into contention with three centuries in three successive West Indies Championship innings — 105, 153 and 108 not out. He finished the domestic season with 393 runs at 78.60, the third-highest aggregate, and carries a first-class average of 40.88 with six centuries from 25 matches. All-rounder Keemo Paul has been drafted in as Joseph's replacement, while opener John Campbell returns after the hamstring injury that ruled him out of the Pakistan series. Kirk McKenzie has been left out.

The series ahead

Roston Chase captains the side, with head coach Daren Sammy overseeing the tour. The pace attack features Kemar Roach, Jayden Seales, Shamar Joseph, Keemo Paul and seam option Justin Greaves, while the spin department rests on Jomel Warrican and Joshua Bishop, backed by all-rounders Kavem Hodge and Chase. The squad also includes Tagenarine Chanderpaul, Brandon King, Amir Jangoo and wicketkeepers Joshua Da Silva and Jangoo.

The tour begins with a warm-up match in Dhaka from October 22 to 24, with the team arriving on October 18. The first Test starts on October 28 in Dhaka and the second on November 5 in Sylhet — the side's final assignment in the 2025–27 World Test Championship cycle.
